Elgin County, Ontario has many valuable places for history buffs and family researchers to find information to enhance their searches including the George Thorman Room, Elgin Archives and Museum, Backus Page Museum to mention a few.
On a recent research trip to search the movements of my Elgin Ancestors I happened upon the Tweed and Area Heritage Centre in the village of Tweed. The genealogy material found here can only be described as amazing. Their website is Tweed
So if you are searching your Elgin roots in other districts stop in at Information Centres on your route, ask about Museums, Heritage Centres and Family History, you may just hit the Jackpot.
